SOMM State of Mind Film Synopsis:
New York City’s wine and restaurant scene is no longer just a boy’s club. This wine film documentary follows one wine director as she prepares to take the Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Exam.

But is joining this elite rank of wine professionals worth the time away from her loved ones… and her sanity?

The focus on female sommeliers came naturally as I’d studied a bit for the Court of Master Sommeliers exams and worked with several women whom I consider strong professional role models. It was odd to me that the preexisting documentaries within the wine genre didn’t feature a female lead since that’s really all I knew. All the most knowledgeable sommeliers I was fortunate enough to work with in the Bay Area were women. It made sense to focus on the wine world from a female perspective. Lani Chan
