Wine Country – Friendship is a Trip

During a vacation to Napa Valley, a group of long time friends reunite and revisit past choices in this hilarious and heartfelt comedy from director Amy Poehler.

Runtime: 93 mins
Released: 2019

Film Synopsis:
In honor of Rebecca’s (Rachel Dratch) 50th birthday, Abby (Amy Poehler) plans a scenic Napa getaway with their best, longtime friends. Workaholic Catherine (Ana Gasteyer), post-op Val (Paula Pell), homebody Jenny (Emily Spivey), and weary mom Naomi (Maya Rudolph) are equally sold on the chance to relax and reconnect. Yet as the alcohol flows, real world uncertainties intrude on the punchlines and gossip, and the women begin questioning their friendships and futures.
A hilarious and heartfelt comedy directed by Amy Poehler, Wine Country co-stars Tina Fey, Jason Schwartzman and Cherry Jones.

Produced and directed by Amy Poehler

“Wine Country” follows these women from one winery to the next with the expectation that their bond will only strengthen as the weekend goes along; naturally, nothing goes as well as they all hope, and as the wine loosens them up, it also lowers their inhibitions and inspires them to express how they really feel about each other. That would have been an intriguing idea if the script had fleshed out the characters more thoroughly. As it is, there’s not much to them, so when the film takes a few dramatic turns, they don’t have the heft or the pull that Poehler was aiming for. Christy Lemire – RogerEbert.com

This investigation aims to trace, understand and demonstrate the historical and unwavering links between the United States, Bordeaux and its wines.
An investigation like no other, Eastbound Westbound lets the viewer understand how this Franco-American friendship around Bordeaux wines had its starting point in the 18th century around the greatest connoisseur of fine wines and lover of Bordeaux, the American Thomas Jefferson, US Ambassador to Paris and third President of the United States.
